Mission Statement
The Board functions in a concerned advisory, not regulatory capacity. As such, the Board has the following responsibilities:
| To develop goals with the Principal, and plans to insure these goals are met; | |
| To be thinkers, dreamers, and planners for the school; | |
| To provide regular counsel and support to the Principal in matters of recruitment, admissions, policy recommendation, public relations, school finances, long range planning, and development; | |
| To recommend policy; | |
| To sell the Product - to be the public relations of the school; | |
| To review the school budget - share responsibility for development goals; | |
| To provide input for the Principal's annual performance review; | |
| To review annually its own performance. |
Membership
The Board shall have the following members:
| the pastor, as the administrator and spiritual leader of the total parish community; | |
| the school principal, as the pastoral, educational, and managerial leader of the school community; | |
| the acting president of the St. Joseph Cathedral Catholic Educational Association, or successor organization; | |
| the chairperson of the St. Joseph Cathedral School Development Committee or successor organization; | |
| a representative of the St. Joseph Cathedral School Athletic Committee or successor organization; | |
| and nine non-administrative lay persons who are member of
the St. Joseph Cathedral Parish or who have children who attend St. Joseph
Cathedral School and who are elected by the parish to serve on the Board. |

The CEA functions as a "PTA" organization for St. Joseph Cathedral School. Every parent, guardian, teacher, and staff member is automatically a member of the Cathedral CEA.
The CEA supports and promotes the school. It also ensures and enhances the quality of education provided by St. Joseph Cathedral School.
